Tofflers Pub & Grill, built 1880 - 200 5th Ave
Opened as a saloon and restaurant, there were originally hotel or boarding rooms on the second floor. Owner Ernest Thierstein, a native of Switzerland, took in many Swiss natives who had come to work in cheese factories.
Albion Armors, built 1904 - 421 2nd St
Previously known as Strickler's Meats, this building was strictly a meat market, then became a full grocery. Later, they added a full line of sausage items with a slaughtering operation. The building is now home to a swords and armor manufacturer.
Cow & Quince, built 1929 - 407 2nd St
The Stuessy Block building has been home to many businesses. It was the original location of Hoesly's Meats and once housed the Post Messenger Recorder. More recently, it was the home to a café, bakery and bar.
Club Fit/Sugar River Flooring, built 1914 - 401-403 2nd St
Originally New Glarus Hardware Co., in 1965 the business was acquired by Disch Hardware and Furniture. Currently, the building is split in two and houses a gym and flooring company
Helvetia Systems, built 1867 - 400 2nd St
This Boomtown style building served as a harness shop from 1870-1917, when it became a horse and dry goods/hardware store. The back portion of this building was added on in 1935.
Ott Haus Pub & Grill, built 1935 - 406 2nd St
Operated by Fred and Marie Bigler as the Swiss Tavern, this was the first Swiss-style commercial building built in New Glarus. When this business first opened, it was split into a men's bar and a women's bar.
Art & Soul Tattoo and Gallery, built 1890- 412 2nd St
Originally the long-time home of Hoesly & Tschudy shoe and clothing store. This store was in operation until 1967. It is now the location of a tattoo shop & art gallery.
Grace Church, built 1913 - 416 2nd St
This building was originally constructed and built to be a car dealership. It was an important retailer during the peak of commercial activity in downtown New Glarus in the 1950s. It was a dealership up until 1982. It is now the longtime home of Grace Church.
Old Citizens Bank Building, built 1910 - 130 5th Ave
Built in 1910 as a bank and merged with the Bank of New Glarus in 1930. Many businesses from an outdoor store to a pop-up chocolate shop have called this location home.
