The New Glarus Männerchor
and Jodlerklub
About Us
The New Glarus Männerchor and New Glarus Jodlerklub have long been a part of the fabric of our community.
The Männerchor was established in 1912 by 23 native Swiss men to preserve traditional Swiss and German music. To this day the Männerchor still sings in Swiss dialect as well as German, Italian, and English. Our group has members from all over southern Wisconsin and welcomes any men with a love of music and comradery.
The Jodlerklub began in 1928 with five Swiss immigrants who felt the need to keep up the tradition of yodeling, which was so much a part of their life in their homeland. The Jodlerklub entertained for the first time at the Swiss Independence Day celebration in 1929. Since then, the Jodlerklub has performed across the country and even in competitions in Switzerland.
The Jodlerklub is open to both men and women - Swiss heritage is not a requirement! Please contact us at newglarusswissmusic@gmail.com if you are interested in joining us.
Follow us on Instagram to stay up-to-date on new performances!
We also have a group of alphorn players that are available for hire by emailing George Albright. You can hear them perform at the New Glarus Brewery on Friday afternoons, or around the streets of New Glarus on the weekends.
D’Schwiizer Gruppe is a Swiss accordion-led band that plays traditional Swiss landers, polkas, waltzes, and yodels. They perform throughout New Glarus and at most festivals, as well as regular performances on the 4th Thursday of each summer month at the Swiss Cookouts at the Chalet Landhaus Restaurant.
